National Guard Ambush Reaction: Why the “Mental Health” Narrative is a Lie

By Marcus Hart

Betrayal. That is the only word for it.

When I saw the news of the attack on our soldiers in D.C., my immediate National Guard ambush reaction wasn’t just grief. It was rage. We are watching a calculated execution on U.S. soil, and the mainstream media is already spinning the script. They want you to believe this was just a “mental health crisis.” They want you to believe this was a tragedy of broken systems and PTSD.

I refuse to accept that lie.

As a combat veteran who served in Iraq, I know the weight of the uniform. I know the demons that follow you home. But I also know the difference between a soldier struggling to heal and a traitor hunting his prey.

The Hard Truth: PTSD is Not a License for Treason

Let’s get one thing straight. I have lived with PTSD since returning home in 2007. I know the darkness. I’ve had days where the aggression was real and the memories were loud.

But never once did my trauma make me want to execute a fellow service member.

We need to stop using “mental health” as a shield for evil.

  • PTSD is a burden, not a weapon. It affects your sleep, your mood, and your nervous system. It does not tactically plan an ambush.
  • Ethics don’t disappear. Even in my darkest moments, my core values remained. I knew right from wrong.
  • The Narrative is Dangerous. When we blame this violence on PTSD, we demonize every loyal veteran who is quietly fighting their own battles.

This suspect didn’t snap because he was sad. He didn’t pull that trigger because he needed a therapist. He did it because the seed of hatred was already planted.

From Ally to Enemy: The Vetting Failure We Ignore

We are told this man was an ally. We are told he worked with the CIA in Afghanistan. We are told he was “one of the good ones.”

If that is true, then our system is broken beyond repair.

We are seeing the catastrophic results of a vetting process that prioritized speed over safety. We brought people back from the sandbox—multinational forces, CIA assets, local interpreters—without knowing what was truly in their hearts.

  • Radicalization isn’t a medical condition. It is a spiritual and ideological choice.
  • Resentment runs deep. You can train someone to fight, but you cannot train them to love America.
  • The “Insider Threat” is here. We spent years worrying about Green-on-Blue attacks overseas. Now we have imported that threat to our own streets.

Radicalization vs. Combat Stress: Knowing the Difference

The media is terrified to say the word “Radicalization.” They prefer “Manic Episode.”

But if you look at the tactical nature of this ambush, it wasn’t chaos. It was precision. If a man can be swayed to murder the very soldiers he supposedly served alongside, that isn’t a sudden break. That is a revealed allegiance.

You don’t accidentally execute American soldiers. You do it because you view them as the enemy.

How the CIA & Military Vetting Process Failed Us

Our leaders are tied up in red tape. The President’s hands are often bound by bureaucratic nonsense that prevents us from doing what is necessary: Extreme Vetting.

We need to ask the hard questions:

  • Who signed off on these files?
  • What psychological profiles were ignored?
  • Why are we prioritizing foreign “assets” over the safety of our natural-born citizens?

One fallen soldier is too many. One family destroyed is too high a price to pay for a “politically correct” immigration policy.

A Veteran’s Call to Action: Demanding Safer Soil

This is my raw National Guard ambush reaction: We are not safe until we demand accountability.

If you are a veteran, you need to speak up. If you are a civilian who loves this country, you need to pick up the phone. Call your lawmakers. Demand a complete overhaul of the vetting process for foreign military assets.

We cannot allow our empathy to become our weakness. We cannot allow “PTSD” to become the universal excuse for domestic terrorism.

It is time to protect our own.
